Container Shipping from Brazil: Ports, Transit Times & Shipping Guide

Buyer guide · SAI Agro Brazil
Match the cargo to the equipment
Start with the product, net and gross weight, packing dimensions and handling requirements. Dry agricultural products, bottled liquids and frozen protein require different loading assessments. Confirm the equipment type and actual payload before estimating the number of containers.
Prepare a realistic loading plan
Include packaging, pallets, liners and other packing materials in the gross weight. Review weight distribution, packing density, securing and any applicable transport limits. An order volume is not a single container’s capacity; the equipment and route determine the feasible load.
Confirm port and carrier arrangements
Identify the loading port, service, destination port and any transshipment. Obtain the current carrier schedule and clarify booking, cutoff, documentation and loading responsibilities. Available services and transit estimates can change, so use the itinerary applicable to the proposed shipment.
Protect product condition
Agree clean and suitable equipment, packing condition, moisture or temperature requirements and inspection arrangements. For frozen goods, align the product requirements with the reefer setup and handling programme. Record the applicable condition checks and monitoring expectations.
Assess cost beyond ocean freight
Review origin transport and handling, ocean freight, destination charges, clearance, inland delivery and potential storage or equipment costs. Confirm the applicable free time and the responsibilities for delays. The commercial offer should identify the agreed scope and exclusions.
Prepare your inquiry
Include your company details, product specification, quantity, packaging, destination country and port, preferred trade terms and shipment period. Requirements and supply conditions are confirmed for the individual offer. These guides support procurement preparation; current destination and contractual requirements should be checked with the relevant advisers and authorities.
