How to Verify a Brazilian Exporter: Due Diligence Guide for Importers

Buyer guide · SAI Agro Brazil
Establish the company identity
Request the company’s registered name and registration details, and compare them with current official records. A website, logo or social profile alone does not establish the identity or authority of the seller. Check that the company name is consistent across the offer, contract and supporting documents.
Verify the representative
Ask who is authorized to negotiate and sign. Confirm an unfamiliar intermediary or mandate directly with the company using an independently established contact channel. Review any written authorization and its scope before relying on an allocation or supply claim.
Check the actual supply programme
Identify the product, source, available shipment period and destination eligibility behind the offer. For processed food or animal products, determine which production establishment and approvals are relevant. A general corporate partnership does not establish a particular shipment’s availability or eligibility.
Review commercial and banking instructions
Compare instructions with the signed contract and company identity. Confirm a change in beneficiary details or payment instructions through a separately verified communication channel. Resolve discrepancies before acting and ask your financial institution to review the proposed payment instrument.
Maintain a review file
Keep the company checks, authorization, quotation versions, specification, inspection arrangements and contract together. Supplier review is an ongoing process: repeat the relevant checks when the source, representative, destination, schedule or payment instructions change.
Prepare your inquiry
Include your company details, product specification, quantity, packaging, destination country and port, preferred trade terms and shipment period. Requirements and supply conditions are confirmed for the individual offer. These guides support procurement preparation; current destination and contractual requirements should be checked with the relevant advisers and authorities.
